The cat who
Touched the stars
The true story of Félicette and the inspiration behind MARS.
Artistic interpretation. Félicette flew to space in 1963 — never to Mars.
Fourteen cats
French scientists began preparing a group of fourteen cats for spaceflight research. Félicette was one of them.
Into space
A Véronique rocket launched from the Algerian Sahara carried her about 157 km above the Earth, where she spent around five minutes in space.
Home alive
Thirteen minutes after liftoff her capsule was back on the ground, and a helicopter recovered her alive — the first cat to travel to space and return.
Remembered
A bronze statue honouring Félicette was unveiled at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France.
Our inspiration
“She never set foot on Mars. But she went further than any cat before her — and came home.”
MARS is our artistic tribute to that journey: the red planet as a symbol of curiosity, and a scent made for anyone who dares to go a little beyond the ordinary.
